Kei Nishikori is raring to go at the French Open after taking a week off to prepare for the second grand slam of 2016.

The world number six opted not to play in Nice or Geneva this week after struggling at times during the Internazionali d'Italia, where he was beaten in the semi-finals by Novak Djokovic.

Nishikori was forced to dig deep to beat Viktor Troicki in his opening match in Rome, but feels he is physically and mentally refreshed to perform well at Roland Garros.

"I have regained my fitness," he said. "I did have some accumulated physical and mental fatigue, so I've taken it light in practice these past days"

"I don't think my fitness is an issue, and the rhythm of my tennis is coming back."

Nishikori, seeded fifth in Paris, will begin his French Open campaign against Simone Bolelli, a player he has beaten on both their previous meetings.
