Murray untroubled by Zverev
Alexander Zverev was no match for Andy Murray as the Brit cruised at the Australian Open.
Andy Murray eased to a straight-sets win over Alexander Zverev in the Australian Open first round.
The emerging German proved no match for second seed Murray, who spent two hours, seven minutes in the Melbourne heat on his way to a 6-1 6-2 6-3 win.
The Brit comfortably beat Zverev at the Hopman Cup less than a fortnight ago and it was more of the same on Margaret Court Arena.
Four-time Australian Open runner-up Murray made strong starts in each set, leaving Zverev with work to do playing catch-up.
Zverev also needed early treatment for a blood nose, which led to a delay of several minutes.
The rest of the punishment came from Murray, who typically dominated from the baseline, a position from which he won 56 of 98 points.
