Murray momentum sees off Millman
While Novak Djokovic's Wimbledon campaign ended prematurely at the hands of Sam Querrey, Andy Murray marched past John Millman.
Andy Murray advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon with a straight-sets victory over John Millman on Centre Court on Saturday.
In a match punctuated by short rain delays before being played out under a closed roof, Murray's momentum did not falter as he completed a 6-3 7-5 6-2 victory over his Australian opponent.
The world number two raced into a 3-0 lead in the opening set but Millman's hard running enabled him to cancel out Murray's break in game five.
The Brit was unperturbed, fending off a smash against the world number 67's serve before clinching the set with a backhand volley.
After a series of interruptions to the second set brought on by the weather, Murray failed to convert two set points when holding a 5-3 lead, Millman recovering to draw level in the set.
However, the second seed ramped up the aggression and held serve to extend his advantage following a colossal game in which Millman initially staved off four break points before finally giving up his serve.
Murray then motored on to victory in the third set, taking a 4-0 lead that the Australian had no chance of overturning.
The 2013 Wimbledon champion is now the highest seed remaining in the competition following Novak Djokovic's shock exit at the hands of Sam Querrey.
