Berdych comfortably beats Basic
He has enjoyed Melbourne Park in the past and Tomas Berdych looks set for another deep run at the Australian Open after beating Mirza Basic.
Tomas Berdych continued his comfortable passage at the Australian Open with a straight-sets win over Mirza Basic in the second round.
The Czech has reached at least the quarter-finals at Melbourne Park in his past five visits and he remains on track after a 6-4 6-0 6-3 win over Bosnian Basic on Wednesday.
Berdych, often flying under the radar in the first week, is yet to drop a set at the year's first grand slam.
The 2010 Wimbledon runner-up cruised on Hisense Arena as Basic failed to make inroads when returning, winning just 12 return points by match's end.
Berdych's dominance included breaking five times as he wrapped up his victory in one hour, 38 minutes.
Unsurprisingly, Berdych did most of the damage with his forehand, which contributed 18 winners.
