Chalmers in control in Nevada
Australian Greg Chalmers is in control of the Barracuda Championship as he eyes his first PGA Tour win.
Greg Chalmers is on track for his first PGA Tour win after taking a six-point lead at the Barracuda Championship.
The Australian had eight birdies and just one bogey to score 15 points in the third round at the Montreux Golf and Country Club in Reno, Nevada on Saturday.
Chalmers moved into 39 points, six ahead of Ben Martin (16) and Gary Woodland (11) heading into the final round.
The 42-year-old started with a bogey before three birdies, but he finished strongly – picking up shots on five of his last six holes.
Martin Laird slipped back to fourth on 28 points, while Steve Wheatcroft and Will MacKenzie are on 27 and 26 respectively.
The Barracuda Championship is the only PGA Tour event using the modified stableford system, with the added incentive of an Open Championship spot also up for grabs.
