Former Tottenham and Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has told beIN SPORTS that Sam Allardyce deserved to lose his job as England manager, stating that any other outcome would have made a mockery of the English Football Association.

Sherwood said, "This is a position that’s held in the highest regard. It is the top job in English football and it’s not only what happens on the pitch, it’s about your life and they (the FA) expect certain ways to behave. 

"Unfortunately for Sam, they deem him to have stepped over the line and Sam recognizes that himself.

"After seeing that (The Daily Telegraph revelations) there was no way he could have continued because people would have made a mockery of the Football Association.”
