U.S. World Cup qualifier versus Guatemala to be held in Columbus
The U.S. will play Guatemala in the venue where it has defeated Mexico 2-0 in four consecutive World Cup qualifying cycles.
The U.S. national team's World Cup qualifier against Guatemala on March 29 will be held at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, U.S. Soccer has announced.
The home of the Columbus Crew has been kind to the U.S. since it opened in 1999. The U.S. has gone 7-0-3 all-time and 6-0-2 in eight World Cup qualifying matches at the venue formerly known as Crew Stadium.
The match will take place four days after the U.S. plays Guatemala at Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City – the team's third game in the semifinal round of World Cup qualifying.
Jurgen Klinsmann's side opened the semifinal round of qualifying with a 6-1 victory against St. Vincent & the Grenadines on Nov. 13, followed by a 0-0 draw at Trinidad & Tobago four days later.
