The French Football Federation was established on April 7th 1919. It joined UEFA in 1954.
First international game
France national team played its first international game against Belgium on May 1st 1904. The confrontation ended in a 3-3 thrilled draw in Vivier d'Oie in Brussels, Belgium Capital.
The biggest victory in les Bleus history was against Azerbaijan on September 6th 1995 during England’s Euro 1996 qualifications , as they led 10-0. The game was staged in Abee deschamps in Auxerres.
The biggest defeat in France history was 17-1 against Denmark on October 22th, 1908
France Euro participation
France national team is taking part in UEFA European Championship for the 9th time in its history. It was present in the first edition hosted by France in 1960. It was absent in the five successive events (1964 – 1986- 1972 – 1976 – 1980), then it made a strong comeback, led by its legend Michel Platini to clinch the title of Euro 1984 hosted by France.
In Euro 1988 which was hosted by Germany, Les Bleus shocked football lovers when they did not make it to the tournament. As a result, they lost their European title to Holland which claimed victory thanks to Marco Van Basten’s winning goal against the Soviet Union in the Final.
in 1992, France national team was back again to the continental championship, but it left early and couldn’t sail to the second round. That was before it gave a dazzling performance in England in 1996 and reached the semi-final. But in 2000, it managed to gain back its European title.

The coach
Didier des-Champs is managing his country’s national team since July 8th, 2012, succeeding Laurent Blanc, now manger of Paris Saint-Germain
Deschamps is one of French Football iconic figures. He led his country’s national team to win world cup title in 1998 and the Euro cup in 2000. He played 103 international games and scored 4 goals.
Deschamps started his coaching career during season 2001-2002, after one year of retirement as a player. In his very first managerial mission, Deschamps enjoyed success with Monaco and led its team to win France league Cup in 2003, and managed to reach champions league final in 2004.
After his success with Monaco, Deschamps was appointed head manager of his previous Italian team Juventus. He managed to bring it back to the Calcio after it dropped in season 2005/2006. From Juvenus, he joined Olympique Marseille, where he clinched the league and France’s League Cup titles in addition to other titles, before he was chosen by the French Federation to manage Les Bleus, which he led the to the quarter-final of World Cup 2014.

France national team is participating in Euro 2016 as the host nation.
France is hosting the continental championship for the third time after 1960 and 1984. It clinched the title two times in 1984 and 2000.

France national team is playing Euro 2016 within Group A, alongside Rumania, Albania and Switzerland.
les Bleus will inaugurate the championship with a confrontation against Rumania on June 10th, 2010 in Stade de France, then it will meet Albania on June 2nd in the Velodrome in Marseille, before it seals the group phase with a game against Switzerland on June 19th in Pierre Mauroy in Lille.
