Ricciardo: I'll be content with just one F1™ win
Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo says just one Formula One™ win in 2016 will make him a happy man.
Daniel Ricciardo conceded he will be "happy enough" with just one win in 2016 but has not ruled himself out of the Formula One™ championship race.
Ricciardo has come close to victory this year - at both Barcelona and Monaco - but missed out on the win due to strategy and pit-stop errors.
The Australian has only stepped onto the podium once this year, finishing second to defending world champion Lewis Hamilton in Monaco.
While he sits 63 points behind championship leader Nico Rosberg, Ricciardo is still positive about his and Red Bull's chances, but acknowledged next year is a more realistic target for a title battle.
"I mean, I think the championship is... I'll never say it's over because we're not even halfway through the season, I think we can at least win a race before the season's out," he is quoted as saying by Motorsport.com.
"But can we win six or eight, to then put us in a championship fight? Probably not. It's definitely a long shot.
"Obviously the objective is to get on that top step at some point, that'll make me happy enough for 2016 and then for 2017 hopefully we get a proper fight."
Ricciardo was quoted during the week saying he was aware of Ferrari interest, with the future of Kimi Raikkonen up in the air, but the 26-year-old insisted his future lies with Red Bull.
"I can confidently say now that I will still be here in 2017. And I am with Red Bull for a couple of years beyond this one," Ricciardo said.
"When I was asked in Canada, I said the only reason I would look elsewhere would be to fight for a world title, not appealing to jump ship for something that isn't better.
"I was very honest when I got asked if I'd had contact and I said I honestly hadn't. There's never been any contact, but I guess, even if I am under contract, I'm a driver that's probably considered by some teams."
