Hamilton playing catch-up after FP2 crash
World champion Lewis Hamilton will be left playing catch-up at the Hungarian Grand Prix after a crash in the second practice session.
Lewis Hamilton's attempts to overtake Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg in the Formula One drivers' championship took a dent on Friday after a crash wiped out his second practice session.
The double-defending world champion spun off the track at turn 11 and thudded into the tyre wall side on, damaging his front wing.
Just 15 minutes into FP2, Hamilton had completed just four laps in a session that teams typically utilise to test their race set-up, leaving the Briton with little information heading into Sunday.
Though the damage appeared largely superficial, Mercedes confirmed that the car would have to be stripped to rule out any further issues, ending Hamilton's session.
Hamilton comes into the weekend just one point behind Rosberg in the drivers' standings, having sat 43 points behind his team-mate earlier in the season.
