Bouhanni ruled out of Tour de France
Nicolas Edet has been drafted into the Cofidis team for the Tour de France after Nacer Bouhanni was ruled out.
Cofidis team leader Nacer Bouhanni has been ruled out of the Tour de France after undergoing surgery on a hand injury.
The 25-year-old Frenchman required four stitches in his right hand after he was reportedly involved in an altercation in a hotel ahead of the French National Championships.
Bouhanni was still expected to recover in time for the prestigious Grand Tour on home soil, but Cofidis on Wednesday revealed that he underwent surgery on Tuesday and will miss the world famous race.
Nicolas Edet will replace sprint specialist Bouhanni for the gruelling race, which starts at the foot of the iconic Mont-Saint-Michel on Saturday.
