Zimbabwe seek T20 tonic after ODI thrashing
Zimbabwe were whitewashed in the one-day international series and will now seek revenge in three Twenty20 meetings with India.
After a chastening series whitewash against India in the one-day internationals, Zimbabwe will try to set the record straight in a trio of Twenty20 showdowns.
Interim coach Makhaya Ntini saw his side thrashed in all three ODIs, succumbing by nine wickets in the opener, eight in the second meeting, and 10 in the final clash in Harare.
He pulled no punches in his assessment of Zimbabwe's displays with bat and ball and will hope for a much-improved showing in the first T20, which takes place again in Harare on Saturday.
For India, the dominant ODI series success was completed against the backdrop of an ongoing search for a new coach.
It was announced this week that a lengthy list of 57 candidates had been cut to 21.
And the Board of Control for Cricket India has enlisted Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly to select the top choice.
The trio will submit their report to the body's president, Anurag Thakur, by June 22.
For now, focus will be on their fortunes in the shortest format, with India having lost to West Indies in the semi-final of the World Twenty20 on home soil this year.
In four previous T20 meetings between India and Zimbabwe, the former have won three.
