Ireland to make Lord's debut in 2017
Lord's will play host to one of two ODIs between England and Ireland next year, with Andrew Strauss hailing the Associate nation's progress.
Ireland will play a one-day international at Lord's for the first time in 2017 after a historic two-match series with England was announced.
While England have contested several matches on Irish soil in recent years, including the Associate nation's inaugural ODI in 2006, the two teams have yet to meet on English soil.
However, that will change next May when Ireland arrive for 50-over games at Bristol and Lord's.
Andrew Strauss, England's director of cricket who captained his country in Belfast 10 years ago, said: "We've been hugely impressed by the major strides Irish cricket has made in the last decade and all their players will be savouring the opportunity to play a full one-day international at the Home of Cricket for the first time, as well as taking on England at Bristol.
"Ireland's past performances in ICC Cricket World Cups have shown just how competitive they can be in the 50-over format; they will definitely provide our one-squad with a tough test ahead of next summer's ICC Champions Trophy and I'm sure both these games will be great cricketing occasions with a strong Irish presence in the crowd at each venue."
Cricket Ireland chief executive Warren Deutrom added: "It's a real chance for Irish cricket to prove itself a worthy addition to the sport's economy as well as its competitive elite."
