MS Dhoni scored a first T20I fifty before England wilted as India wrapped up a come-from-behind series victory with a 75-run pasting of the tourists in Bangalore on Wednesday.

The huge margin of victory was aided by England's batting completely dissolving, losing their final eight wickets in the space of 19 astonishing deliveries.

Playing in his 76th international in the shortest format, Dhoni combined superbly with Suresh Raina (63) on his way to 56, as India posted 202-6 after being invited to bat by the tourists.

Joe Root (42) and Eoin Morgan (40) initially impressed in a response that fell apart in double-quick time as Yuzvendra Chahal returned 6-25 - the best figures, and first five-for, for an Indian in T20Is - to spark a repeat of the collapses that led to series losses in the Tests and ODIs, the tourists all out for 127 in just 16.3 overs.

With expectations of high scoring, the Chinnaswamy fell silent when Kohli ran himself out in ludicrous manner in the second over, but Raina quickly asserted himself.

Raina hit Chris Jordan (1-56) for two sixes in the sixth over and KL Rahul blasted Moeen Ali out of the stadium, but the opener missed a straight one from Ben Stokes - whose overstep was not spotted - and departed soon after.

Dhoni and Raina were inspired from there, though, adding 55 runs in 37 balls and both making fifties - a feat more notable for the former skipper.

Yuvraj Singh (27) followed Dhoni's landmark by going six, six, four, six and a 16-run final over - helped by Jason Roy dropping Hardik Pandya (11) over the rope - made England's task steeper.

Roy ought to have been run out when Chahal bafflingly threw to an end that housed both batsmen, a mix-up with Root not proving costly.

After Roy perished for 32, captain Morgan put England ahead of the rate with three sixes in a tired Raina over and another confusing piece of India fielding gave Root a life. 

Yuvraj dropped an edge at third man as debutant Rishabh Pant moved into his peripheral eyeline but the 19-year-old clung on in the next over when Morgan hoiked Chahal into the leg side and Root followed him next ball lbw and England were suddenly vulnerable.

What followed was astonishing.

Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah (14-3) tucked into a shambolic, panic-stricken lower order, England's final eight wickets falling for eight runs and adding a frenetic end to a miserable tour.
