Broom helps New Zealand seal series
A century from Neil Broom saw New Zealand beat Bangladesh to seal their one-day international series.
New Zealand sealed a series win over Bangladesh with a 67-run victory in the second one-day international on Thursday.
An unbeaten century from Neil Broom – his first in ODIs – led the hosts to 251 at Saxton Oval, Nelson after they were sent in to bat.
Imrul Kayes (59) seemed to have the tourists on track to keep the three-match series alive, only for a middle-order collapse to see them fall to defeat.
Kane Williamson (3-22) was surprisingly the main wicket-taker for the Black Caps, who bowled Bangladesh out for 184 in the 43rd over.
Bangladesh were 105-1 at one stage, only to lose 79-9, leaving them with nothing but pride to play for in the final game of the series on Saturday.
The tourists went in with three debutants in Nurul Hasan, Tanbir Hayder and Subashis Roy, with Mushfiqur Rahim (hamstring) among those missing out.
Martin Guptill (0) survived an early review before falling off the next ball, trapped in front by Mashrafe Mortaza (3-49).
Bangladesh could have had New Zealand in greater early trouble, with Williamson dropped before departing for 14, hitting an easy catch to Shakib Al Hasan off Taskin Ahmed (2-45).
When Tom Latham (22) fell, the hosts were 47-3, but Broom would lead the recovery.
He got most of his support from James Neesham (28) and Luke Ronchi (35), as New Zealand's tail struggled to hang around.
Broom brought up his ton with a single before he was dropped, but he had done the damage on the back of eight fours and three sixes.
Bangladesh made a solid start in their chase, although Tim Southee (2-33) did get rid of Tamim Iqbal (16).
Colin Munro dropped a return chance off Imrul, who put on 75 with Sabbir Rahman (38) for the second wicket.
A calamitous run out would lead to the collapse which cost Bangladesh.
Hasan (24) and Mortaza (17) provided some resistance, but New Zealand got through the lower-order relatively quickly to complete their win.
