Bayern Munich kick start winter training camp in Doha
Bundesliga leaders train in Doha for annual winter camp
Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich have officially started their winter camp in Doha with an open training session at the Aspire Zone. Fans and local media saw the full Bayern squad train including stars Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Thomas Müller
Whilst much of the focus of the session was on Chillean international Arturo Vidal who has been strongly linked with a January transfer to Premier League side Chelsea. A £30 million offer would be enough for Vidal to leave the club, although much will depend on Bayern bringing in a replacement for the midfielder. That could be in the form of Schalke youngster Leon Goretzka, who would be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.
One major concern for caretaker coach Jupp Heynckes will be the fitness of goalkeeper Sven Ulreich who left training early to have a scan on his right middle finger after suffering an injury during the session.
This was Bayern's second session of their week stay in Qatar after having a training session just hours after landing in Doha on Tuesday evening. Bayern will train at the Aspire Zone till Saturday, also taking part in a friendly match against local side Al Ahli.
The Bavarian giants will then return to Germany to start preparations for the resumption of the Bundesliga season where they will take on Bayer Leverkusen on the 12th of January. Bayern currently has an 11 point lead at the top of the table over second-placed Schalke.
