Bianchi tributes flood in on social media
Motorsport figures have posted tributes to Jules Bianchi, who died as a result of injuries sustained at the Japanese Grand Prix.
Tributes have been flooding in following the death of former Formula One driver Jules Bianchi.
Aged 25, Bianchi died on Saturday due to injuries sustained in a crash in the Japanese Grand Prix in October.
Bianchi was driving for Manor Marussia at the time of the accident, and the F1 team paid tribute to the French driver.
"We are devastated to lose Jules after such a hard-fought battle. It was a privilege to have him race for our team," Manor F1 Team's Twitter read.
"Further to the incredibly sad news overnight, we will issue a statement later on Saturday morning. Thank you for your heartfelt messages."
Red Bull Racing's Daniel Ricciardo joined a long list of motorsport figures in offering their condolences.
"I'll never forget you and the good times we had. Going to miss you bro", Ricciardo wrote, accompanied with pictures of the pair together.
Ex-F1 driver Kamui Kobayashi posted: "Jules Bianchi, who we had competed with until last year, died at around 2:45 today France time," a translation of the Japanese's posts read.
"We praise him for his fight after the crash in Japan Grand Prix of 2014. And we will pray for his soul sincerely. R.I.P #Jules".
French IndyCar driver Simon Pagenaud added: "@Jules_Bianchi we will miss you buddy.i m speechless right now, words can't describe the sadness we all feel at this moment. #RIPJules"
Pagenaud's Team Penske team-mate Will Power wrote: "Sad to hear about Jules Bianchi...thoughts and prayers are with his family #RIPJules".
"My heartfelt condolences to the @Jules_Bianchi family for this very sad ending of a promising young life. My prayers are with you.#RIPJules," read a tweet from former F1 world champion Mario Andretti.
Alan Jones, F1 champion in 1980, posted: "Rest In Peace @Jules_Bianchi a courageous young man. We will miss you @MarussiaF1Team_ #F1 #JulesBianchi."
