Warriors hold on to edge Rockets, open up 2-0 series lead
James Harden scored 38, but could not get a shot off late as the Golden State Warriors held on to beat the Houston Rockets.
The Golden State Warriors held on for a 99-98 win over the Houston Rockets, extending their Western Conference Finals series lead to 2-0.
The Rockets had the chance to pinch a series-levelling victory at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, when James Harden had possession in the dying seconds - but he was double-teamed, and the Warriors eventually forced a turnover without a shot made.
Harden led all-comers on the night with 38 points, and also had 10 rebounds and nine assists in a stellar performance, but could not haul his side over the line.
Steph Curry (33 points), meanwhile, moved closer to the record for most threes in a single NBA post-season.
Five baskets from range on Thursday put Curry within two threes of Reggie Miller's mark of 58.
