Yankees to retire Jeter's No.2 jersey
The New York Yankees will retire Derek Jeter's jersey and unveil his plaque in Monument Park on May 14 against the Houston Astros.
As expected, Derek Jeter will be immortalised by the New York Yankees.
The team announced on Tuesday that they will retire the former shortstop's jersey and unveil his plaque in Monument Park on May 14 against the Houston Astros.
Jeter, who played his final season in 2014 after a 20-year career in New York, will become the 22nd player in franchise history to have his number retired. With the former captain's No.2 retired, all single-digit numbers will be retired by the Yankees.
During his remarkable career, Jeter recorded a franchise-record 3,465 hits, which also ranks sixth all-time in MLB history, 1,311 RBIs and 260 home runs. He also made 14 All-Star teams and won five World Series championships.
