Lucroy 'all good' over decision to veto trade to Indians
Jonathan Lucroy - a two-time MLB All-Star - was on his way to Cleveland in August, but he blocked the deal.
Texas Rangers catcher Jonathan Lucroy cost himself a chance to play in the World Series with the Cleveland Indians, but he does not regret it.
Lucroy was headed to the Indians on August 1 before the non-waiver trade deadline, but the two-time MLB All-Star blocked the trade citing playing-time competition from Yan Gomes as well as "economic reasons".
The 30-year-old ended up with the Rangers, where he hit .276 with 11 home runs and an .885 OPS in 47 games.
Despite Cleveland making it to the World Series and Texas losing to the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League (AL) Division Series, Lucroy has moved on from the decision.
"I'm good, man,'' Lucroy told ESPN.
"There's too much drama with all that. I'm not worried about it at all. It's over with and in the past.''
Roberto Perez has been starting behind the plate for the Indians since the postseason began, despite batting just .183 during the regular season. Though he is not Lucroy offensively, he has drawn praise from Indians pitchers.
"Roberto is below the radar, but he shouldn't be,'' Andrew Miller said.
"He's incredible with his ability to receive the ball and call pitches, and he's a better hitter than he gets credit for. What a special guy back there.''
