Murray hoping for long partnership with Lendl
Ivan Lendl is coaching Andy Murray once again and the Briton said: "Hopefully if will be for a long time, from my side."
Andy Murray hopes to have Ivan Lendl as his coach for a lengthy period after announcing the re-hiring of the Czech on Sunday.
Lendl will link up again with Murray, who ended his partnership with Amelie Mauresmo last month, having helped the Briton secure his first two grand slam titles during their previous spell together.
Asked to confirm the length of his arrangement with Lendl, world number two Murray said: "Hopefully it will be for a long time, from my side.
"He's coming over, he'll be here for the tournament [Queen's] and it's just good for him to spend some time with the rest of my team as well, to see how things work out, but providing everything's good it will hopefully go on for a long time."
Murray won the US Open and Wimbledon under the tutelage of Lendl and will hope to enjoy similar success again, having lost two grand-slam finals to Novak Djokovic with Mauresmo as his coach, while he was also toppled by the world number one in last week's French Open final.
"The most successful period of my career was while I was working with Ivan. I know what he can offer," Murray added.
"He helped me in the major competitions and they are obviously the events that I'm trying to win and competing for. I hope he can bring that same experience and the same benefits as he did the last time."
In an interview with the BBC, Murray revealed negotiations with eight-time grand slam champion Lendl progressed swiftly.
He explained: "I'd spoken to Ivan a little bit over the last couple of years, maybe seeing if there was a chance to make something work. Again, earlier this year, when I stopped working with Amelie, it sort of got talked about and brought up in the press.
"After the French Open, our two managements spoke to each other and there was obviously a mutual interest and it all happened really quickly.
"We spoke on the phone a couple of nights ago, he'd spoken to some of the members of my team to gauge where I was at, what my motivation was like, how I was getting on. And then we had a chat and he messaged me yesterday [Saturday] and said 'let's do it' and that was it."
