Klizan and Garcia-Lopez cruise into last eight
Martin Klizan dropped just two games as the seventh seed surged into the last eight of the German Tennis Championships.
There were no shocks in the German Tennis Championships on Thursday as Martin Klizan and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez both eased through their second-round matches.
Seventh seed Klizan needed just 50 minutes to see off wildcard Louis Wessels 6-1 6-1, while eighth seed Garcia-Lopez brushed Grega Zemlja aside 6-2 6-2 at the clay-court tournament in Hamburg.
Inigo Cervantes could not build on his shock victory over Alexander Zverev as he was beaten in three sets by Stephane Robert, the Frenchman triumphing 7-5 4-6 6-1.
But there was better fortune for Cervantes' Spanish compatriot Daniel Gimeno-Traver.
Gimeno-Traver emerged victorious in the longest match of the day, coming from behind to beat qualifier Daniil Medvedev 5-7 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-2) after over three hours of play.
