Rudisha beaten again in Olympic qualifiers
Having struggled on the Diamond League circuit this year, Olympic champion David Rudisha was again below-par at the Kenyan trials.
Olympic champion and world-record holder David Rudisha will defend his 800m title at Rio 2016, but the Kenyan endured another disappointing day at national trials on Friday.
Rudisha finished third in the 800m, behind Alfred Kipketer and Ferguson Rotich, at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium.
Rotich has already beaten Rudisha in Diamond League action in Stockholm last month.
Rudisha also finished fifth in Shanghai as he struggles to build momentum ahead of the Rio Games, where he will defend the title he romped to in a world-best time of one minute and 40.91 seconds four years ago.
Though defeated, the 27-year-old was far from downbeat, pointing to his country's boosted chances of success in Brazil.
"It shows you how the event was competitive but I am glad to make the team to defend my title," Rudisha is quoted by the Daily Nation.
