Ennis-Hill delighted to become triple world champion
Tatyana Chernova's doping punishment meant Jessica Ennis-Hill was handed a third world championship gold for her efforts at Daegu 2011.
Jessica Ennis-Hill is "over the moon" to have had her heptathlon silver medal from the 2011 World Championships upgraded to gold.
Ennis-Hill finished 129 points shy of Tatyana Chernova in Daegu five years ago but the Russian athlete was subsequently found guilty of doping offenses.
Chernova has been banned for a period of three years and eight months from February 5, 2016, while the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled on Tuesday that 28-year-old would be stripped of all results between August 15, 2011 and July 22, 2013.
The upshot is 2012 Olympic gold medalist Ennis-Hill is now a three-time world champion and the 30-year-old, who announced her retirement last month, is pleased the situation has been resolved.
"It's just crazy but I'm so happy to finally be receiving my medal – over the moon," she told reporters at the Team GB Ball.
"It's been such a long time and I hoped I'd eventually receive it but I never knew when it would be, whether it would be 10 years or in the next few months. It's just incredible to have that medal."
Chernova was punished alongside middle-distance runners Ekaterina Sharmina and Kristina Ugarova, continuing the doping storm around Russian athletics.
All track and field athletes from the country were banned from the Rio Olympics earlier this year after a report uncovered a widespread, state-sponsored doping programme.
Ennis-Hill praised athletics in her homeland for having its house in order.
"I think Britain, as a country, are incredible at monitoring doping and testing the athletes, doing spontaneous, random testing which is really important to keeping the sport clean," she added. " I think we do a fantastic job."
