Rodgers, Adams lead Packers past Bears
The Green Bay Packers were too good for the Chicago Bears thanks to Aaron Rodgers in the NFL.
Aaron Rodgers finally put his team on his back to lead the Green Bay Packers to a 26-10 victory over the Chicago Bears in the NFL.
Rodgers threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns at Lambeau Field on Thursday.
Rodgers threw 56 passes with a career-high 39 completions as a trio of Packers receivers either tied or set a career mark for receptions.
Leading the way was Davante Adams, who hauled in 13 passes for 132 yards and two scores.
Randall Cobb added 11 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown while Ty Montgomery followed a 10-catch game last week with 10 more catches for 66 yards on Thursday.
The Packers (4-2) were without injured running backs Eddie Lacy and James Starks, so Montgomery got the start.
The Bears (1-6) had a significant injury, losing quarterback Brian Hoyer in the second quarter with a broken arm.
MONTGOMERY KEEPS DRIVE ALIVE
The key play on a drive for an Adams TD in the third quarter was a seven-yard pass to Montgomery to get the Packers to the five. The Bears challenged the catch, but the play stood as called because, while the ball did hit the ground, it never moved in Montgomery's hands.
DYNAMIC DAVANTE
Adams' 13 catches were one off the Packers' single-game record of 14 set in 1942 by Hall of Famer Don Hutson. Adams was also the first player ever with at least 10 catches, 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns in a game at Lambeau Field.
PROUD OF ADAMS
"I'm so proud of him," Rodgers told CBS Sports. "He's a tough kid, played through an injury last year, but didn't complain or make excuses the entire time.
"He did a great job, got open and made some great plays."
PACK IS BACK?
The Packers showed signs of life on offense in the second half and hope to use it as a springboard into the second half of the season. They were fortunate to face an inept Bears offense, but need to use the extra time off before their October 30 game at Atlanta to figure out some semblance of a running game. Rodgers seemed to have finally found a rhythm, throwing for 300 yards for the first time this year.
