The New England Patriots' perfect start to the NFL season was ended after a 30-24 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos.

Tom Brady (280 yards and three touchdowns) appeared set to lead the Patriots to an 11-0 start when they led 21-7 in the fourth quarter.

But the Broncos rallied as C.J. Anderson scored on a 15-yard run, Brandon McManus kicked a field goal and Brock Osweiler's four-yard pass set up Andre Caldwell for a touchdown.

Stephen Gostkowski's 47-year field goal saw the Patriots force overtime, but Anderson's 48-yard run saw the Broncos to their win and a 9-2 record.

Making matters worse for the Patriots, Rob Gronkowski went down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury.

The Cincinnati Bengals improved to 9-2 atop the AFC North after a 31-7 victory against the St Louis Rams.

Andy Dalton threw three touchdown passes, including two to A.J. Green, in the Bengals' win.

The Kansas City Chiefs made it five straight wins to continue their play-off push, beating the Buffalo Bills 30-22.

The AFC South is tight, with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans sharing 6-5 records.

Matt Hasselbeck led the Colts past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 25-12 and the Texans stopped the New Orleans Saints scoring a TD for the first time since 2005 in a 24-6 victory.

In the NFC East, the Washington Redskins and New York Giants share 5-6 records at the top.

The Redskins held on for a 20-14 win over the Giants after intercepting Eli Manning three times, with the quarterback throwing for 321 yards and two TDs.

Adrian Peterson ran for 158 yards and two TDs as the NFC North-leading Minnesota Vikings overcame the Atlanta Falcons 20-10.

The Arizona Cardinals are clear atop the NFC West and enjoyed a fifth straight win, beating the San Francisco 49ers 19-13.

Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham suffered a season-ending knee injury in his side's 39-30 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Derek Carr's three TD passes helped the 5-6 Oakland Raiders to a 24-21 win over the Tennessee Titans.

The San Diego Chargers ended a six-game losing streak with a 31-25 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Jets brushed past the Miami Dolphins 38-20.
