“It’s a typical mistake from the defender”- Wenger comments on Zuber's header
Arsene Wenger talked about Switzerland’s goal saying “It’s a typical mistake from the defender (Miranda)”
Former Arsenal boss, Mr Wenger, who is beIN SPORTS pundit during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, has given his verdicts on Switzerland's Zuber controversial equaliser against Brazil, that canceled Philippe Coutinho's superb goal.
Brazil drew 1-1 with Switzerland in their opening Group E clash on Sunday. Swiss midfielder Steven Zuber scored the equalizer after replay showed he pushed Brazilian defender Miranda
“It’s a typical mistake from the defender (Miranda)” Wenger told beIN SPORTS, then he added that VAR referees decided not to interfere, because “I think if they will start that, in every corner they must give a foul”, .
Brazil, which was captained by Marcelo on Sunday evening, and their super star Neymar failed to make a real impact, and missed to score the winner with a header at the end of the game.
Wenger commented on the performance and the captaincy saying he believes that Neymar’s fame may affect Brazil chances.
‘You don’t have natural captains anymore in the younger generation, I don’t know why’ Wenger said, and he added: ‘Maybe because every player is now a star. For example, Neymar is the superstar. This guy has 170m followers.
‘Even if I am captain of Neymar, he’ll do what he wants.’
