Wenger has had his say on England stars Jordan Pickford & Harry Kane
Arsene Wenger has had his say on the prospects of England progressing in the World Cup and has identified Jordan Pickford as a potential weakness for the side.
Wenger, 68 has been a guest pundit for beIN SPORTS during the World Cup in Russia and picked out the Everton stopper as a weak link in the Three Lions side, who are set to take on Colombia in the round of sixteen later today.
"The goalkeeper has no international experience, I have not seen anyone win the World Cup who has been decisive in some moments. We remember with Bartez, Casillas or Neuer for Germany. When you look at the teams who have won the world cup you realise there is always a big goal-keeper in goal."
The former Arsenal boss also pointed to the experience of Pickford, who has only made six appearances for Gareth Southgate's side as number one. "We have no examples of a team who won the world cup without a big, big massive goalkeeper. Pickford will maybe be one, but at the moment he lacks experience and they might pay for that."
Whilst Wenger marked Harry Kane as the man who could potentially fire England all the way to the final. "Kane can score goals, he has a short backlift and he is good in the air. He's very efficient with what he does, he's a little bit the counterexample of the super talented players."
Wenger also identified his teamwork as a key asset for the Tottenham striker, who is set to captain England later today. "When you look at what he does his guidance is always to be efficient. In the pass, the shoot and the work he is a fantastic team player."
England will be hoping that they can get the better of the South American side when they face off in the Spartak Stadium later today, the winner will face Sweden in the quarter-finals.
