Round-up: Transfer deadline day
Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang's club-record move to Arsenal did, as expected, set something of a deadline day carousel in motion.
Olivier Giroud heads to Stamford Bridge
After Aubameyang joined the Gunners in a $A99 million switch, Dortmund moved to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan until the end of the season.
Batshuayi's much-anticipated exit enabled Chelsea to finally sign the target man Antonio Conte has been craving as Olivier Giroud arrived from Arsenal.
Giroud's transfer cost Chelsea a reported $A31.7 million, the France international after Roma full-back Emerson Palmieri, who signed on Tuesday, to Stamford Bridge.
While Conte got his wish, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was left to deal with the disappointment of missing out on Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez.
That deal appears to have fallen through but Tottenham has added to its already vastly talented ranks with the signing of Lucas Moura.
No City move for Mahrez
City reportedly made a "final offer" of $A114.5 million for Mahrez but the Foxes were clearly in no position to sell.
Leicester's steadfast resolve means City are unlikely to replace the injured Leroy Sane, and it could be about to lose Eliaquim Mangala, who seems poised to join Everton on loan with a view to a permanent move.
Ozil set to extend Arsenal deal
Mesut Ozil has got Arsenal fans excited on social media after teasing his followers about "signing things" amid reports he has agreed a new contract.
The Germany international is said to have finalised terms on a new three-and-a-half-year deal worth $A616,000 a week, bringing months of speculation over his future to an end.
Although the Gunners have yet to announce the news, Ozil has dropped a huge hint over the deal with an image shared on his Twitter account.
The 29-year-old tweeted a photo of him autographing pictures, along with the caption: "Had a busy day signing things."
Malaga's success story
Relegation-threatened Malaga has swooped for Watford's Isaac Success on loan until the end of the campaign.
Ndong seals Watford move
Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong has agreed a loan move to Watford until the end of the season, with the option to buy in the summer.
Stoke lands Galatasaray midfielder Ndiaye
Stoke City has completed the signing of midfielder Badou Ndiaye from Galatasaray for a fee of $A24.5 million.
The Senegal international completed his medical before personal terms were agreed and a work permit was secured on Thursday (AEDT).
Tottenham snaps up Lucas Moura
Frozen out at Paris Saint-Germain, Lucas has been confirmed as a Tottenham player in a $A44 million move. The Brazil international has signed a contract until 2023 with Mauricio Pochettino's men.
Spurs' London rival West Ham has missed out on Russia captain Fedor Smolov, who confirmed he will not be joining on loan from Krasnodar. Leaving the Hammers is Reece Oxford, who has re-joined Borussia Monchengladbach on loan.
Swansea City has broken its transfer record to bring Andre Ayew back to the club from West Ham.
Ayew has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal after the Swans paid a reported $A27.7 million for his services.
Ex Manchester United flop Bebe joins Vallecano
The Portuguese forward, a famously eyebrow-raising recruit towards the end of Alex Ferguson's reign at Old Trafford, spent the 2015-2016 season at Rayo while on the books at Benfica.
His form there persuaded Eibar to take a punt on the 27-year-old and he scored five times in 26 appearances last season.
Bebe has been more of a bit-part player for Jose Luis Mendilibar's men this time around and he will now join Rayo's promotion push as they aim to end a two-season absence from LaLiga.
Nasri agrees Antalyaspor departure
Antalyaspor has confirmed Samir Nasri has left the Super Lig struggler by mutual consent after only five months in Turkey.
After a successful loan spell at Sevilla failed to bring a permanent deal, Nasri moved to Turkey to try and resurrect his career after it had stalled at Manchester City.
Nasri moved to Antalyaspor for a reported $A5.3 million, but has only made eight appearances in the Super Lig, the last of those coming in November against Fenerbahce.
Nagatomo heads to Turkey
Inter defender Yuto Nagatomo is poised to leave Serie A and join Galatasaray on loan, and in LaLiga Atletico Madrid has sold midfielder Augusto Fernandez to Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe.
Roma replaces Palmieri with Silva
Roma has signed Jonathan Silva on loan for the rest of the season from Sporting CP to plug the gap left by Emerson Palmieri's departure to Chelsea.
Argentine left-back Silva is set to make the move permanently for next term, in a deal that Sporting revealed could be worth $A8.78 million.
It leaves the Giallorossi well in profit, having received an initial $A30.8 million for Emerson.
Debuchy joins Saint-Etienne
Mathieu Debuchy has joined Saint-Etienne until the end of the season after his contract was terminated by Arsenal.
The right-back joined the Gunners in 2014 but injuries were a contributing factor to him making only 13 Premier League appearances for the club.
Real Sociedad signs Moreno from Roma
Mexico international Hector Moreno has left Roma for Real Sociedad, where he will take the place of the departed Inigo Martinez.
