Rogic bags assist as Celtic marches on
Australia's Tom Rogic didn't finish the match, but was involved in Celtic's goal-scoring fun as it moved further clear at the top of the Scottish top flight.
Partick Thistle 1-4 Celtic Tom Rogic grabbed a crucial assist as he helped Celtic move 11 points clear at the top of the Scottish Professional Football League on Saturday with a big win at Partick Thistle. Rogic pounced on some loose possession early in the second half, with Celtic having only gone 2-0 up a minute earlier, feeding Leigh Griffiths with a throughball that the striker finished nicely with a curling strike to the far corner. Stuart Armstrong bagged a brace for the Hoops, tapping in a Griffiths cross on 39 minutes before blasting home another from outside the box 10 minutes later. Partick did pull a goal back on the hour after some ordinary defending allowed Liam Lindsay to head home past Craig Gordon, but Callum McGregor made sure Celtic had the last word, finishing the scoring for Celtic in the 82nd minute with a volley past Tomas Cerny for the club's 70th goal in all competitions this season. "I don't think Partick Thistle have conceded more than two goals in a game this season," Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers remarked after the game. "On the back of Tuesday night [Wednesday AEDT away to Manchester City in the UEFA Champion League] with only two days recovery, to come here and play to that level was exceptional really. "You give Partick credit tonight, they made it really difficult, but the mentality in the team is very strong. I can see the development, the relationship between training and the game, they are taking on board the concepts of our build-up play and consolidating the game and then we've obviously got goals in the team. "We're staying very composed and calm under pressure and that's a really good sign."
