Leeds capitulation sees Brighton go top
Leeds paid the price for its ill-discipline as Brighton capitalised on two penalties to go top of the EFL table, with a 2-0 win on Saturday (AEDT).
Brighton leapfrogged Newcastle United at the top of the table after Leeds capitulated with two penalties and a red card.
Leeds faced an uphill battle when Kalvin Phillips was sent off in the 23rd minute, as Glen Murray buried the resulting penalty to give Brighton an early lead.
United struggled to cope with 10 men and eventually conceded another penalty in the 83rd minute, which was converted by substitute Tomer Hemed.
The win sees Brighton go two points clear at the top of the table, while Leeds now sits 10 points off the pace in fourth.
