England pips Poland to reach semi-finals
England secured a semi-finals spot at the European U21 Championship for the first time since 2009 after beating host Poland 3-0 on Friday (AEST).
The win sees the Three Lions go top of Group A, ahead of Slovakia, which finished runner up after a 3-0 win over Sweden.
The result never looked in doubt for Aidy Boothroyd's side, with three clear-cut chances in the opening five minutes, before Demarai Gray opened the scoring with a spectacular long range effort in the sixth minute.
England came close to doubling its lead on the half hour mark, when Wrabel pulled off a brilliant save to deny Mawson's header.
The Three Lions picked up where the left off in the second half and doubled their lead in the 69th minute through a swift counter attack, which Murphy turned in from six yards.
Things went from bad to worse for the host in the 82nd minute when Jan Bednarek was sent off after bringing down Abraham in the box. Baker slotted home the resulting penalty to put the icing on a morale-boosting win for England.
