Suarez out for at least four weeks
Luis Suarez will miss the start of LaLiga season after it was confirmed the Barcelona forward will be out for at least four weeks with a knee injury.
Barcelona's famed MSN strike force is left with just Lionel Messi on the eve of the new LaLiga season after it was confirmed forward Luis Suarez will be out for four to five weeks with a knee injury.
Tests carried out on Thursday confirmed that the Uruguayan has "a distension in the posterior articular capsule in his right knee", and injury he sustained in the second half of Barca's second leg Supercopa de Espana defeat to LaLiga champion Real Madrid, which won the tie 5-1 on aggregate.
Suarez will miss games against Betis, Alavés, Espanyol and possibly a trip to on 18 September (AEST) Getafe, the first fixture after an international break.
With Neymar having departed in a world record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona's strike force has been decimated and will be relying on Messi when the new season kicks off this weekend.
Barcelona could also be without Gerard Pique for its opening fixture against Real Betis after tests revealed he has a groin strain. Barcelona staff will decide closer to the game whether he will be available to take part.
