Rogic fires late stunner to win it for Celtic
Tom Rogic added another brilliant goal to his scrapbook as Celtic got the upper hand late in a thrilling win over Motherwell.
Australia's Tom Rogic scored a stunning goal in the last minute to win a crazy game for Celtic over Motherwell in the Scottish Professional Football League on Saturday.
With the clock ticking down into the 90th minute, Rogic cut in from the left-hand as Celtic searched desperately for the three points and whipped in a fizzing right-foot strike that beat Craig Sansom in the Motherwell net all ends up.
Celtic looked set for a first defeat when Louis Moult scored twice, but Callum McGregor and Patrick Roberts hauled the hoops back level with goals of their own before Lionel Ainsworth restored Motherwell's lead in the 71st minute, just a minute after Roberts's strike.
That lead unbelievably lasted just a minute, too, as Stuart Armstrong equalised as the game turned crazy in the final 10 minutes.
It was left to Rogic to find the piece of magic required to win the match, and he did so in some style to keep Celtic top of the table.
Boss Brendan Rodgers acknowledged Celtic's poor start, but credited a tactical change as key to the turnaround.
"We changed the system at half-time to 3-4-3. We were absolutely brilliant second half," he told the BBC.
"To score the four goals, to win the game, it really shows the mentality of the team.
"Across the team, I have to give them huge credit because we had to put risk in the game. They took on the risk and they got the reward. I'm delighted for them.
"That was a great, great victory for us and give credit to Motherwell as well because I thought that they were set up very, very well."
For Motherwell manager Mark McGhee, it was a hard one to swallow, but he was willing to see the positives.
"We've played a really good Celtic team, they've fought back into it and eventually they've got a winning goal," he said.
"We've just got to live with that but our performance was good."
in the other matches, Rangers held on to second spot after a 2-1 win over Aberdeen at Ibrox. Kenny Miller and Lee Hodson scored for Rangers before Andy Considine pulled one back.
Hearts sits third after a 2-2 draw at Ross County. Bjorn Johnsen and Callum Paterson scored for the visitors after Jay McEveley had started the scoring, but Liam Boyce slotted home a spot-kick in the dying minutes to clinch a share of the spoils.
St Johnstone beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3-0, Kilmarnock moved into the top six with a 2-0 win over Dundee 2-0, while Hamilton Academical and Partick Thistle played out a 1-1 draw.
