Foley warns Wallabies to be smart against England
Australia must learn from its whitewash at the hands of England earlier this year if it is to end the 12-game winning run of Eddie Jones' side at Twickenham, according to fly-half Bernard Foley.
England won all three Tests against the Wallabies in June to seal its first series triumph down under, and maintain its impressive form since Jones replaced Stuart Lancaster in November 2015.
That run has shown no signs of stopping with victories over South Africa, Fiji and Argentina this month.
Australia is next up for England this weekend and Foley says the visitor is determined to produce a much better display.
"I think it's just being smart in how we engage in the play and we just pick and choose our times," he said.
"In the June series, they came with a pretty simple but executed well plan and did a really good job for them.
"So, for us it's just managing the game as best we can and allowing us to probably be more accurate especially at the breakdown and in our starters so that we're probably not as involved or not falling into the trap of getting targeted by them.
"In a lot of those games we weren't that far off, or the attack was alright and then we were sloppy in defence or our discipline and that hurt us.
"When this side's playing good footy, we match it with anyone in the world and that's what we're trying to do. We're trying to be consistent."
Team-mate Rob Simmons believes the Wallabies have improved game on game since the losses to England and says the performance of Australia's pack could be crucial at Twickenham.
"It's something we've been trying to raise the bar in is physicality, especially for the tight five," he said.
"It's an area the tight five need to own and the team runs off the back of that.
"If we can set up a platform, especially for the ball players, it makes it a lot easier for the rest of the team."
