New Zealand will host Peru in the first leg of their 2018 FIFA World Cup intercontinental play-off tie at Wellington Stadium's Westpac Stadium on Saturday 11 November then travel to Lima for the return leg five days later, after FIFA extended its international window by one day to accommodate difficult travel times.
Football New Zealand had been negotiating for the Saturday afternoon time slot after Peru was confirmed as the fifth-placed south American nation on a dramatic final day of CONMEBOL qualifying.
The away leg, which will be held at altitude in the cauldron-like surrounds of Estadio Nacional de Lima in the Peruvian capital, will take place on Thursday 16 November at 3pm NZDT.
"We have been waiting for this confirmation for some time so we are pleased we can start building towards hosting Peru on 11 November," NZ Football chief executive Andy Martin told the New Zealand Herald.
